Transportation & Infrastructure
The Government has made the expansion of infrastructure a national priority. Rail expansion is one of the important components of the national infrastructure. Rail connections include both freight and passenger and the importance of efficient, convenient transportation connections between the central regions and the periphery are central to the National plan.
The Firm has been involved in a number of significant infrastructure improvements. These include:
A new line is being constructed from Tel Aviv to Ashdod via the southern Tel Aviv suburbs of Holon, Bat Yam, Rishon Lezion and Yavne (west) as an extension of the existing Coastal railway line. Rail extension through urban areas is problematic and must consider not only the civil engineering challenges, but also environmental and urban impacts, visual and noise considerations, safety and grade separations. The project consisted of the rail base (the National Rail Authority installs the rails) for two 18 km rail lines, and a rail station (Yavne West), as well as 600 meters length or 7,000 m ² grade separating bridges, including two bridges over route 4, one over route 4311, and one over Nahal Soreq. A rail tunnel of 800m using the "cut-and-cover" engineering technique was used.
The scope of work included: Managing interdisciplinary planning between the various railway departments, coordinating municipal authorities of Yavne and Rishon Lezion. Coordination of planning and design with various organizations such as the IEC (Israel Electrical Company), INR (Israel National Roads Company), the architect planning the railway station, Drainage Consultants rail planning and soils engineers. Presentations were required by the Landscape Architect as part of the management team was required in front of District Planning committee of its various advisers.
